  • The child is unhappy and confused, but not excessively so.

  • Why did they get rid of the child? Why not?
    They feel some guilt, but not much.

  • A mechanic takes the child in, brings him up. He grows up to be normal, even moderately successful.

  • The parents are fine. They speed up the interstate; perhaps they never stop; perhaps they continue along the freeway indefinitely.

  • The front wheel of the bicycle spins slowly as it idly dreams of going somewhere.
