[...] In the meantime, one bit of news–the Code Anatomy prototype I published in my last post is turning into a real feature! Our Learning Resources team is getting a real Flex developer to rebuild it from the ground up as a skinned, fully-reusable Flex app, and will be shipping several code samples that use it with Flex 3. Best of all, we’re planning to release the source code, so other folks can post anatomies of their own apps. [...]

Claude--good news: our documentation team is actually building a real version of the Code Anatomy app. See my latest post.

Stumbled across this article, a little belated.

The annotated code viewer is a brilliant idea. I wish it had taken off. This would have been an amazing tool for understanding bits of code.

NJ, thanks for sharing the CS3 tips and tricks at FlexCamp. I wanted to catch up with you that night but caught up with some other Flex chums of yours. They said to contact you about more CS3 stuff for designers.

I am especially interested in making real-time or rapid prototyping using Flex with minimal backend dev work so apps can be approved in Flex by client and then bid on by developers.

Let me know if you know if this can be done - even partially - I want to help drive this initiative that got some discussions in the "champagne room" that night.

Thanks again, good stuff on the Fireworks/Flex stuff. I may have to dust off my copy ;-)

Evan--very cool! I could definitely imagine incorporating a flow diagram similar to yours to make the "walkthrough" part of my app clearer. I might try that for the next version.

Doug--the background should be light, not dark; maybe your browser isn't loading the background image for some reason. The server this is on can be sluggish at times (my email account gets a lot of spam), so you might be timing out. Let me know if you continue to have the problem.

NJ, looks like a very nice we to be able to comment code for demonstration and example purposes. Looking forward to the finalized version.

Correction. It's not that the text is dark. It's that the background is black. I wonder if others are seeing what I'm seeing...

Great idea! I'm involved with CairngormDocs.org and this looks like this would be helpful for our project.

BTW, are you aware that the text on your blog is *really* dark? I have to select it with my mouse in order to read it! Perhaps you're on a Mac which, if I recall correcly, displays everything much lighter?

Excellent, an intuitive code exploration learning tool!

We've done something simmilar at cairgormdocs.org, the diagram explorer (http://www.cairngormdocs.org/tools/CairngormDiagramExplorer.swf) .. you can see that this would be a valuable addition to this learning tool, not to mention as a stand-alone cairngorm example app.

Well done! We would love to use this tool and/or help with the development of it.
